Photography - Coursework (60% weighting)

Year 9- Built Environment

Year 10- Identity

Year 11- Personal Project

The pupils are encouraged to produce photographs of still life, buildings and architecture in the first year. We also use traditional methods of photography using the dark room; pin-hole cameras and photograms for example. In the second year, the focus is on photo journalism and candid photography using ‘people’ as the main point of referencing. In the final year pupils commit to a personal project which is a ‘brief’ based unit of work where pupils pick their subject matter and project title.

The coursework will be assessed using four assessment objectives; Investigation, Experimenting, Recording and a Final Outcome (all are of equal weighting)

Photography - Exam (40% weighting)

Pupils will pick one theme from a series of 7 which is distributed by the exam board. Pupils are encouraged to investigate appropriate sources, recording and experimenting using a number of mediums and then produce a final outcome (10 hour exam over a two day period) over a 8 to 10 week period.

Work will be produced in sketch books, boards and through any lens based mediums.

Pupils are encouraged to use collaging, photo shop techniques, dark room techniques and various methods of artistic experimenting to develop their examination prep over the course of the 8 to 10 period leading up to the terminal examination.

The exam will be assessed using four assessment objectives; Investigation, Experimenting, Recording and a Final Outcome (all are of equal weighting)
