I am delighted to have the opportunity of introducing you to Stewards Academy.
At Stewards, pupil achievement is at the heart of all we do. We encourage all our students to do their best, to achieve the best examination results they can and to develop their personal and social skills to the full.
In May 2010 OFSTED reported that “Stewards is an inspiring and ambitious school”. They judged that "outcomes for pupils are outstanding" and that "pupils are exceptionally well cared for". They commented favourably on many aspects of school life and stated that "the development of personal skills such as independence and cooperation that will support pupils' future in the world of work is exceptionally good".
Everyone has a vital part to play in developing our school. We listen to our students, respect their views and regularly celebrate their successes and achievements across the whole spectrum of school life.
We have created an atmosphere of trust and collaboration at the school - a place where everyone is respected and where the traditional values of mutual care, consideration and acceptance flourish. We are committed to students becoming good citizens who will contribute positively to society.
Stewards Academy has gained an excellent reputation within the local community. We have strong links with parents and with the business community. In recent years we have achieved numerous national awards in recognition of the high quality education we offer. Visitors invariably comment on the friendly, purposeful and welcoming atmosphere of Stewards Academy. The website will give you information about the work of the teaching departments and an idea of what we value in a school of which we are justly proud.

Reading can be and should be a very enjoyable experience. Each year the Royal Society asks 100 panels of young people nationwide to read a short list of six children’s science books to decide which one will be awarded the Book Prize.
On the 13th October, 11 Stewards students visited the Cavendish Laboratories at the University of Cambridge. The aim of the visit was to see a lecture about bubbles by Dr Gianluca Memoli. We arrived in good time and were ushered into the lecture theatre and shown where to sit. The students were excited to see the size of the lecture hall, with the rows of seats and the big screen down at the bottom.
Year 9 students spent an interesting and informative morning at the Chemistry at Work conference sponsored by the Royal Society of Chemistry. Not only were students learning about employment in the Science and Engineering sector they took part in several experiments too.
