I am delighted to have the opportunity of introducing you to Stewards Academy.
At Stewards, pupil achievement is at the heart of all we do. We encourage all our students to do their best, to achieve the best examination results they can and to develop their personal and social skills to the full.
In May 2010 OFSTED reported that “Stewards is an inspiring and ambitious school”. They judged that "outcomes for pupils are outstanding" and that "pupils are exceptionally well cared for". They commented favourably on many aspects of school life and stated that "the development of personal skills such as independence and cooperation that will support pupils' future in the world of work is exceptionally good".
Everyone has a vital part to play in developing our school. We listen to our students, respect their views and regularly celebrate their successes and achievements across the whole spectrum of school life.
We have created an atmosphere of trust and collaboration at the school - a place where everyone is respected and where the traditional values of mutual care, consideration and acceptance flourish. We are committed to students becoming good citizens who will contribute positively to society.
Stewards Academy has gained an excellent reputation within the local community. We have strong links with parents and with the business community. In recent years we have achieved numerous national awards in recognition of the high quality education we offer. Visitors invariably comment on the friendly, purposeful and welcoming atmosphere of Stewards Academy. The website will give you information about the work of the teaching departments and an idea of what we value in a school of which we are justly proud.

Stewards recently held an E-Safety Assembly, which briefed Students on responsible use of Internet and social networking sites. Parents/Carers will soon be invited to attend an evening briefing to highlight internet safety.
Stewards Academy were represented well in this year’s West Essex Tag Rugby Tournament in St John’s Epping on Friday the 3rd of May. It was the first time that the school has entered into this prestigious competition. Two teams participated from year 7 and year 8. They were the only Harlow school to obtain a place in the tournament. So with the sun shining and the girls ready to play and determined to succeed.
On Wednesday the 25th of April the year 7 and Year 8 netball teams played in the Harlow netball tournament at St Marks. Although the year 7 team were understrength due to the majority of their players being on an outdoor pursuits trip to Bude, they showed that they could content with a weakened team. They played five tough and gruelling games and were victorious against a strong Mark Hall team. Participating in the competition has given them valuable experience for their upcoming matches and will hold them in good stead for next year’s competition.
Parents' Evenings
We have been delighted with the excellent turn out at recent Parents' Evenings with 93% of parents present at a recent year 8 event. However we are aware that the large number of people attending has led to some delays in seeing members of staff and in some areas of the school becoming a little over-crowded. As a result we are reviewing the way in which these evenings are organised and would welcome your feedback on how we might improve the experience for parents.
