Extra Curricular
Throughout the year the drama department is involved with various different events that students can be part of. Our main event, the whole school production, takes place during spring (b). Auditions are held in September and are ususally open to Years 8-11 dependent on the production chosen. Rehearsals take place 2 to 3 nights a week from September through to the production week.
In the summer term we run a lower school drama club, often supported by GCSE students, which will then result in either a lower school play or a series of devised drama pieces for the summer showcase. In July 2009 30 students performed in ‘The Demon Headmaster’.
For our GCSE students we provide opportunites for performance at the upper school showcase in November and the Year 11 showcase in April .
We have also been involved with the Shakespeare Schools Festival for two years. In October 2008 students performed ‘The Taming of the Shrew’ at the Millfield Theatre in Edmonton and in September 2009 17 of our GCSE students will be performing ‘Romeo and Juliet’ at the Kenneth More Theatre in Ilford.
