Creative Partnerships

Students from years 8 and 9 have been involved in the Creative Partnerships programme, working on the development of ideas for an outside learning environment. The year has seen various events and activities for the students to develop new skills and work alongside a variety of professionals including musicians, poets and artists. The year has been a great success and concluded with the students presenting their ideas to a panel made up from a variety of distinguished guests.

The event began with a video presentation that documented the years events. The video was produced by the students with the support of media artist Erica.

It was then the turn of the year 8 and 9 students who had to present their ideas for the outside learning environment to a panel of judges. Each group had prepared a presentation explaining their ideas and highlighting the benefits to the school and its community. Each presentation was graded by the panel with the comments made being used to help support the final selection process.

The afternoons events were concluded by two musical compositions that had been composed and played by a group of year 10 GCSE music students. The local community and environment had been the influence behind both pieces. The tracks were then edited using industry standard software and produced as Cd's.

I would like to thank all those who have taken part in this year's events and look forward to working with you all again next year on the next phase of the project, which will involve the making and installation of those selected ideas.
