The department is housed in it’s own suite of well equipped rooms and is well resourced with computers and industry standard software. Pupils have access to the internet at all times. In addition, Mathematics and Science have interactive whiteboards and class laptops to use within their classrooms. All subjects are able to book the ICT rooms for their lessons.
Assessment
Formal assessment is reported at the end of Key Stages. The use of a computer based assessment method called Flippi is being introduced in the lower school. On-line testing is also being introduced for Key Stage 3.
Key Stage 4 follows the Edexcel GNVQ assessment requirements. 6 units assessed with two being external examinations and 4 assessed by portfolio. Pupils must gain a mean of 40% for a pass, 60% for a merit and 80% for a distinction.
